About me:
Hey! I see you want to get to know me as a person and why I am a photographer…
Well, my name is Chloe Bain, and I despise my middle name. The Secret Life of Walter Mitty is my favorite movie, and I love the darkroom, music, all animals, and my plants. I am an advocate for women’s rights, mental health, sustainability, and a lot more - Just ask me about it!
I was born in London, but grew up in Trinidad, and that is where I call home. Trinidad gave me my foundation of who I am and shaped me as a person.
At 15, I took a chance and moved to The Knox School on Long Island, NY. My time there was a wild mix of challenges and opportunities. I met many of my closest and dearest friends here.
The Knox School taught me how harsh life and people can be. Gave me a kick of reality. But more importantly, it introduced me to many great teachers who taught me unforgettable lessons.
James North, my equestrian coach, pushed me in my professionalism, taught me about business, and kept me on as an intern after graduation. He motivated me to explore and be versatile. I learned how to fall hard and get back up stronger. Professor. E introduced me to art and its beauty, igniting my creative spark. She prepped me for the harsh reality of being an artist. Without her, I would not have stepped out of my comfort zone and chased my dreams of being an artist. Ms.Mazz taught my most hated class…Algebra. She supported me through one of the toughest times of my life and put a smile on my face. She taught me that reaching out for help was not bad.
I would not be where I am today without my family. We are imperfect, and all over the world, but we still hold a strong connection.
My mother introduced me to photography at a young age. She would let me play with her camera and encouraged me to dream big. My dad taught me about reality and problem-solving. “For every problem there is a solution”, he would say. My sister taught me to advocate, be goal-oriented, and to love myself in this harsh world. She is one of the most empathetic people I know, guiding me through the world of a male-dominated field. My brother taught me to love life, adapt, and be authentic - always finding beauty in the world and living true to himself.
I am a photographer and a creative because of every person and lesson in my story. I am an artist with something to say and a mission to keep growing.
